T71 Treadmill Review - Best Treadmill Under $700

Horizon T71 Treadmill ConsoleHorizon T71 Treadmill Review
Horizon T71 Treadmill Rating: 5 stars out of 5 for being an excellent treadmill for small budgets
Price: $599 (New models often go for $50-$100 less as retailers try to clear inventory to make room for the 2008 Horizon Treadmills.)

The Horizon T71 is one of the best treadmills under $600. You're not getting a commercial quality treadmill in this price range. The Horizon T71 isn’t built to withstand the San Francisco 49’ers defensive line, but it comes pretty close, well, closer than any other treadmill retailing for $600 or less.

With an 18” x 20” deck size the Horizon T71 ranks as the smallest treadmill of the Horizon Fitness bunch. this If you're a larger person or taller than 6’3”, you might want to look into treadmills with longer, wider decks like the Horizon T82 that can accommodate larger users more comfortably.

The motor inside the Horizon T71 Treadmill is rated at 1.75 continuous duty horsepower. It may not sound like a lot, especially if you own a Porsche or even a Lexus, but rest assured it’s plenty of power for the average treadmill user. You may see other treadmills in the $600 range with a horsepower rating of 4 or 5. That’s probably because they’re using Peak Duty to advertise their treadmills, not Continuous Duty. (Less reputable manufacturers will bait customers with inflated peak duty horsepower ratings. I’m proud to say Horizon Fitness does not.) The Horizon T71 Treadmill’s motor is designed and manufactured by Johnson Tech. Johnson Tech is one of the best known and most renowned names in fitness and supplies treadmill motors for a lot of high end treadmill lines including Matrix Fitness. When Johnson Tech makes a motor, it’s going to last.

One of the most important features of the Horizon T71 is the GellCell shock absorption system. I’ve had the displeasure of running on treadmills with poorly designed shock absorption or no shock absorption at all. Horizon’s GelCell technology is one of the best features of the Horizon T71 and greatly reduces the impact suffered by your joints during walking and running workouts.

If you’re looking for a quality treadmill for the lowest possible price, the Horizon T71 Treadmill is it. If you try to spend $50 or a $100 less you’re probably going to wind up with something significantly less stable and short lifespan, in terms of mechanics and warranty. The Horizon T71 is the best low cost treadmill on market.
